How to Prepare for Your First Laser Hair Removal Session?

Unwanted hair is one of the most common problems when it comes to personal hygiene. Different people have different preferences for hair removal, but laser hair removal is becoming an attractive option due to the long list of advantages that it offers to its users. Many people find it scary, but it’s effective, long-lasting, and safe, particularly when you get it done by the professional team of HisGrooming. However, it’s not as simple as shaving hair, so you should be prepared for that. Here we are discussing some basic things, which you must know to prepare for your first laser hair removal session.

First Laser Hair Removal Session

  1. No waxing, no plucking

Before your first session, you need to avoid those hair-removing methods that affect the roots of the hair follicles, because the target of the laser beam is the roots of the hair. So, it’s better to avoid plucking or waxing your hair before your first hair removal session. However, if needed, you can shave your hair, but do that at least 24 to 48 hours before your session.

  1. No sunbathing

Sunlight is important for your health, but exposure to the sun before your laser hair removal session can make your skin sensitive. So, if you are planning your weekend on the beach to soak yourself in the sun, avoid that before your session, because ultraviolet rays can cause irritation and burns, which is not a good thing before any laser session. So, avoid direct sunlight for 2 to 4 weeks before you go for your treatment. Moreover, if you are using any tanning creams, stop their use for a while. It will help you to get effective and safe results.

  1. Be careful with your skincare.

Many people use chemical peels and other treatments to remove dead skin. Application of any chemical should be avoided at least 4 weeks before your session. Even on the day of your laser hair removal session, avoid the application of any cream, moisturiser, or serum. Avoid the use of deodorant as well.

  1. Cleansing is recommended

On the day of the session, our experts recommend cleansing the area to be treated, but afterwards, no oil or lotion should be applied. Cleansing opens the pores and enables laser energy to target hair follicles without any hindrance. However, you need to be careful; cleansing is necessary, but try not to irritate your skin with any chemical exfoliator.

  1. Wear a comfortable outfit

At the time of a laser hair removal session, your outfit should be of a natural material, preferably cotton, and it should not cling to your skin. A tight outfit may rub against your skin, leading to irritation or rashes. So, the use of breathable stuff is recommended. A slightly oversized t-shirt can be a good option.

  1. Discuss your medication

If you are taking any medication regularly, discuss that with our team before the laser hair removal session. You need to be more careful about antibiotics and if you are taking any hormonal therapy. Usually, it doesn’t make any difference, but certain medicines may irritate the laser treatment. So, if our staff know about your medication, they will be able to guide you in a better way.

These are just a few general tips. When you book your session with us, our team guides you properly, and at “hisgrooming” we make sure that you are properly guided about the procedure, and even minute details are properly taken care of.
